Time Traveler's Wife Pages 129-146

Saturday November 30, 1991 Henry is 28 and Claire is 20:  Claire has invited Henry over for dinner, and Henry is kind of nervous because he will be meeting Claire's room mate and her boyfriend.  He doesn't do very well with first impressions and he knows that this is a big deal for Claire.  When Henry gets over to Claire's apartment everything is a mess.  The kitchen looks like a tornado swept through it and left everything in a dusty pile.  Claire tries to explain it, but in reality she just isn't a cook; she never has been and never will be.  Fortunately Henry knows how to cook and transformed the dinner into a masterpiece.  By the time they got to sit down at the table and eat they were all drunk.  They didn't notice until they tried to sit down and all about missed their chairs.  After dinner was over they all hung out and relaxed.  They told stories of their childhood and had a really great time.  Too soon after that Henry had to leave.
Saturday December 14, 1991/Tuesday, May 9, 2000 Henry is 36:  Henry time travels into the past and somehow ends up beating the shit out of a random stranger.  Gomez, Claire's roommates boyfriend, happens to be walking by and controls the situation.  Henry and Gomez end up going out to eat together and get along really well.  Henry ends up telling Gomez about his time traveling, it's the only way he can explain why he was beating up that random guy.  Gomez doesn't really understand it, but shrugs it off.  The next couple of hours are spent at the bar, both of them are getting extremely wasted.  Henry runs into the bathroom to throw up; but as soon as he gets in there he time travels.  Gomez was watching the whole thing and couldn't believe his eyes, i guess now he believes the whole thing.  Henry time travels back to the present and ends up naked in the library that he works in.  It turns out he was only gone for fifteen minutes.  He tells his boss that he doesn't feel well and he gets to go home early; typical day for Henry.
I could relate to a lot during this part of the book.  The whole double date thing where everything goes wrong is totally something that would happen to me. Luckily Henry is a nice guy and can laugh it off.  When you first start dating a guy double dating is a really good way to get to know him with out having awkward silences; since there would be four people there the talking never ends.
