Reflection

This semester of etymology was really helpful.  I enjoyed coming to class everyday, and loved having Mr. Hill as a teacher.  I don't think this class particularly helped out with the SAT though.  All of the vocab tests we took were really frustrating and not many of those words showed up on the SAT.  During the beginning of the semester we worked on SAT prep and took practice tests, I think that helped out the most with preparing for the SAT.  One part of the class that I really loved was the reading.  I loved being able to pick out whatever book I wanted to read.  I read probably 5 books and well over1000 pages.  I didn't enjoy the blogging though.  It was such a hassle.  For example, I would read in the car and not be able to blog right away, and then I would go to blog and I would totally forget everything I read.  The whole idea of blogging was neat but it wasn't structured very well.  6-8 posts was too many a week.  On the other hand, I liked how we were a technology based class, and how we got to use lap tops almost every day.  Over all, this class brought me a lot of stress.  I would always read my book but by the time Tuesday came I would forget to blog and have to do it all in one night.  Also, the vocab tests were super hard and required a lot of studying, which I didn't have time for.  I'm glad I took this class though.  I feel like it will help me mature more as a writer and a reader.

Gossip Girl 2 pg 201- 224 (the end)

Blair was extremely depressed after finding out about Nate's other girlfriend.  She had no idea Nate was the kind of guy to date two girls at once.  She stayed in her room the rest of the weekend.  I feel bad for Blair.  I've experienced it, sometimes guys can be so hurtful.  They basically don't think of anyone but themselves.     Oh well Blair will be fine with out him.  She is a strong independent woman who has a big future planned out for herself.  Nate would only slow her down.  More young girls need to be like Blair.  She puts herself and her school work first, that's how it should be.  Overall i loved this book.  I like drama and real life situations.  Also i've watched the tv show of it before and it's quite interesting.

Gossip Girl 2 pg 181-200

Blair was out with her mother getting ready for the wedding which was only a couple of days away.  They were getting milk and honey foot massages and pedicures.  Blair was so excited for the wedding.  Not because her mom was marrying Cyrus, but because she would get to spend the whole night with Nate.  Too bad Blair didn't know about Nate and his little freshman girlfriend.  That weekend at the wedding Blair was so anxious to see Nate all dressed up.  She was sitting at a bar waiting for him to arrive.  Finally he came in, but shortly behind him was his freshman girlfriend.  Blair already knew what was up, she didn't need him to explain anything, she couldn't believe it.  How could Nate do this to her especially on he rmother's wedding.  She had such an eventful night planned for them.

Gossip Girl 2 pg 160-180

Back at school the following Monday all of the upper classmen girls got to skip their last two periods to watch the senior film festival.  Serena was nervous because she played a role in one of the films.  Oddly enough Serena won the award for best actrise!  She couldn't believe it.  She was so excited, Blair on the other hand was extremely pissed off.  She was so jealous of Serena but she could never admit it.  All of the girls were talking about Serena behind her back.  They were making up crazy rumors and spreading them to everyone because secretly they all were jealous of her.

Gossip Girl 2 pg 124-158

Blair and Aaron begin their trip to Yale.  They are taking turns driving and eventually stop at a Motel 6 for the night.  Blair is not very happy about staying at this crappy hotel, she would rather be in her five star hotel like planned.  Aaron wanted to be spontaneous so he forced her to stay here.  They didn't have any food so they went to a close grocery store and got the necessities: junk food and beer.  They spent all night watching movies, drinking beer,  and eating cookies.   By the time they went to bed they were both really drunk and neither of them set an alarm.  The next morning Blair woke up an hour late and didn't have time to shower.  Her college meeting was scheduled for less than an hour and they still had to drive from the Motel to the campus.  Blair was beyond pissed.  She quickly threw on some clothes, which were wrinkled, and brushed her teeth and her hair, and ran out the door.  Aaron quickly folowed.  Fortunately they got to the college on time, but Blair felt rushed and that she didn't have enough time to prepare for all of the questions tey were going to ask her.  Meanwhile, Serena was having her own fun in a hotel room with four other boys.  They were all on their way to Brown University for a college visit.  Of course they stayed up most of the night partying and jamming to loud music, so they didn't look very well put together either when they arrived at Brown.  It turns out both girls, Blair and Serena did great on the college interviews.   They couldn't be more excited about getting into the colleges of their dreams.

Gossip Girl 2 pg 104-123

Blair gets a new brother.  Her soon to be step father is moving in all of his stuff and along with him comes his son.  His name is Aaron and he is Blair's age.  Blair isn't very excited about this at all.  First of all she doesn't want to share her house wth Cyrus or Aaron, and second of all Aaron has a dog named Mookie, Blair hates dogs.  Aaron is really cool kid and right away tries to get to know Blair, but of course Blair has an attitude and shuts him out.  Aaron wants to have some bonding time so he asks Blair if she wants to go on a college visit to Yale the next weekend.   Blair really loved Yale and that is where she wanted to go to college so she couldn't refuse.

Gossip Girl 2 pg 68-103

Unfortunately Blair was still dating Nate even though he is not a good boyfriend.  He never hangs out with her anymore and always ditches her.  Now he is basically cheating on her with a freshman!  He was at the park one day playing soccer with his friends.  Jenny, a freshman, and Dan's younger sister, was walking through the park when she happened to spot older hot guys.  She casually walked by them and they yelled at her to come over and chat.  She was desperately craving attention so she went over not thinking at all.  She recognized Nate, just because she has seen him with Blair so many times.  Nate and her began to talk while the others were smoking.  Nate told Jenny that him and Blair broke up, so Jenny started to get ideas.  After a couple days of not seeing of talking to Nate Blair began to get suspicious.  She would constantly e-mail him because we wouldn't return her phone calls.  She could see that he was online, but what she didn't know was that he was secretly dating a freshman behind her back.
This part of the book is exactly like high school.  Guys are shadey and will always be shadey.  If they don't get what they want they become uninterested and move on.  They don't ever tell you how they feel or how they want things to change, so they always keep the girls guessing.
